Naucrătes

Ναυκράτης). A Greek rhetorician of Erythrae, a pupil of
Isocrates. With others he competed for a prize offered by
Artemisia (q.v.) to the orator who should deliver the best funeral
discourse in honour of her husband Mausolus, and which was won by Theopompus (
Gell. x. 18).
