BALCE´A

BALCE´A (Βαλκεία, Steph. B. sub voce is placed by Stephanus about, that is near, the Propontis. It is mentioned by Pliny (5.30), who places it in Teuthrania, a district which contains Pergamum. His position, therefore, differs altogether from that which is vaguely assigned by Stephanus.
