Andrews, Ethan Allen, 1787-
Educator; born in New Britain, Conn., April 7, 1787; was Professor of Ancient Languages at the University of North Carolina in 1822-28; and editor (with Jacob Abbott) of the Religious magazine, but was chiefly engaged in compiling classical text-books. In 1850 he edited the well-known Latin-English Lexicon, based on Freund and Andreas' and Stoddard's Latin grammar. He died March 4, 1858.
