Haanel, Eugene 1841-

Educator; born in Breslau, Germany, May 24, 1841; came to the United States in 1859; taught in Adrian, Hillsdale, and Albion colleges in Michigan; was professor in Victoria College, Coburg, Ontario, in 1873-88; then became Professor of Physical Science in Syracuse University. He resigned the last charge in June, 1901, on being appointed superintendent of mines in Canada. Professor Haanel is a charter member of the Royal Society of Canada.
