Gibbons, Edward 1629-1654

Colonist; born in England; came to America in 1629 and settled in Boston; became sergeant-major of the Suffolk regiment in 1644; was major-general of militia in 1649-50. He was a member of the commission of 1643 to establish the confederation of the Massachusetts, Plymouth, Connecticut, and New Haven colonies. He died in Boston, Mass., Dec. 9, 1654.
