Godkin, Edwin Lawrence 1831-

Journalist; born in Ireland, Oct. 2, 1831; graduated at Queen's College, Belfast, in 1851; was the first editor of the Nation, which was merged with the New York Evening post in 1882, which he also edited till 1899. He is the author of Problems of Democracy; Unforeseen tendencies of Democracy; Reflections and comments, etc.
