Graham, James Duncan 1799-1865

Military officer; born in Prince William county, Va., April 4, 1799; graduated at the United States Military Academy in 1817; appointed a topographical engineer in 1829; made the survey of the northeast boundary of the United States; represented the United States under the treaty of Washington in determining the boundary between the United States and the British provinces, etc.; promoted colonel of engineers, June 1, 1863. He died in Boston, Mass., Dec. 28, 1865.
