Hoffman, Murray 1791-1878

Jurist; born in New York City, Sept. 29, 1791; graduated at Columbia College in 1809; was assistant vice-chancellor in 1839-43; and judge of the Superior Court of New York in 1853-61. His publications include Office and duties of masters in Chancery; Treatise on the practice of the Court of Chancery; Treatise on the corporation of New York as owners of property, and compilation of the laws relating to the City of New York; And treatise on the law of the Protestant Episcopal Church in the United States. He died in Flushing, L. I., May 7, 1878.
