Riis, Jacob August 1849-

Journalist; born in Denmark, May 3, 1849; has been connected with the New York Sun and has been active in the movement for tenementhouse and school-house reform, and also for the making of small parks in the crowded districts of New York City. He is the author of How the other half lives; The children of the poor, etc.
