We return to Wooden Shoes.

--The Shoe and Leather Reporter says: The plan of using shingles in the bottoms of shoes originated about thirteen years ago, the first lot being cut in New Hampshire; the use of paper and straw board began about the same time. To give some idea of the extent of this branch of this business during the past year, five or six acres of heavy pine timber have been used for wood filling, nearly all by the manufacturers of Natick, Mass., and the adjoining towns, in the soles of brogans.
