Troublesome insects.
--Those troublesome little insects, flies and gnats, have begun to make their accustomed appearance, and will soon do so in such numbers as to annoy housekeepers almost out of their wits.
Repelling invasion will then be the watchword, and while the gallant men of the
South are up in arms to drive back the increasing hordes of vandals from the
North that threaten to sweep down upon us, let not our gentle housewives forget to arm themselves against this equally pestiferous invader of their houses.
Fortunately the weapons in this case are more simple, though equally as successful as cannon and rifles.
Take three or four onions and boil them well in a pint of water, and then brush the liquid over your glasses and frames, and the flies will not light in smelling distance of them.
The receipt is a safe one, and will do no injury to furniture.
