--A meeting of the Butler Guards, 2nd Regiment of South Carolina Volunteers, was held at Camp Davis, yesterday morning, which was presided over by
Capt. A. D. Hoke as
Chairman, and
Sergeant J. S. Mauldin, as
Secretary.
The meeting was held in view of their departure from
Richmond to another field of service.
The following resolutions, which speak, for themselves, were unanimously adopted:
‘
Resolved, That the thanks of this corps are pre-eminently due, and are hereby tendered, to the ladies of
Richmond for their kindness in making up our fatigue uniforms, at such short notice, and in so skillful a manner.
Resolved, That the thanks of the corps are also hereby tendered to
Mr. James H. Grant, for courtesies and refreshments extended to us on the morning of the 23d inst.
Resolved, That the thanks of this corps are also tendered to various other citizens of
Richmond, for their several acts of kindness toward us during the time of our encampment near the city.
Resolved, That the above resolutions be published in the papers of the city.
