--Everybody says that "money is tight," and what everybody says must be true. We are fully aware that business men at this particular time want all the cash they can procure to keep the wheels going. The consequence is that the offerings at the banks are very heavy, yet, we are informed, they are discounting as freely as ever. While much inconvenience must result from a stringency in the money market, we perceive nothing like a panic, and have heard no imputations cast upon the soundness of any of our business houses.
