The election, to-day.

This day is the great day, which comes but once in four years--the day of the Presidential election. Great excitement prevails, and parties are unusually earnest. Nevertheless, we hope and believe that everything will be conducted quietly and end without disorder or irregularity. Our city has heretofore been famous for the quiet manner in which its elections are conducted. There is no reason to believe that it will be otherwise to-day.
