Dead body found.

--A few days ago we mentioned the mysterious disappearance of Mr. Lewis Schweitzer, a resident of this city, doing business on Franklin street, between Seventeenth and Eighteenth. He started from home last Saturday week, at four o'clock in the morning, for the Petersburg depot, intending to return in the afternoon. Days passed away, and he failed to make his appearance. His friends became alarmed for his fate, and as it was known that he had a considerable sum of money with him, a dread suspicion began to be felt that he had been robbed and murdered. Yesterday morning, when the water was drawn out of the canal basin, the dead body of a man was found in the mud near the warehouse known as Ludlam & Watson's, and it was soon identified as that of Mr. Schwitzer. There were no marks of violence about him, and his money (about $1,900) was found safe in his pocket. It is therefore probable that, in passing down Eighth street towards the depot, he missed the root-bridge, and walked directly into the water. The deceased was a worthy man, who enjoyed the respect of his acquaintances, and leaves a family to lament his sad fate.
