An appeal to the young men.

--By reference to our advertising it will be seen that a thrilling appeal is made to the young men of Richmond to enlist in a ‘"crack"’ company, now being raised for the defence of the seat of Government. There are any number of young men now in the city, who for various reasons are exempt from militia duty, but are well enough to perform service in the city. There are others, also, who have been discharged on account of disability, sometime ago, but are now perfectly able to shoulder a musket for city service. In view of these facts, we hope to see the ranks filled up to the maximum number in a few days. As is stated in the advertisement, they will not be ordered in the field, but will be retained in this city for special service. The gentleman engaged in raising the corps is well versed in military affairs, and in every way well qualified for command.
