--Detective New, of General Winder's force, appeared before the Mayor yesterday to answer the charge of assaulting L. Hoyer. Mr. Hoyer, it seems, in passing along the street, picked up a sum of money, which a lady claimed to have lost, and which he handed to her. The lady aftewards accosted Mr. H and told him he had not given her all the money. He said he had. Mr. New not knowing Mr. H., and hearing the charge, arrested him, to have the matter inquired into. The Mayor will decide the complaint to-day.
