More orders from Picayune Butler — more Brutality — Difficulty with a British Captain, &c.
Mobile, July 9,
--The Advertiser has received New Orleans papers of the 7th and 8th insist containing several more of Buner's orders.
Order No. 152 consigns John W. Andrews to hand labor at Ship Island for two years for exhibiting a cross said to be made our of the bones of a Yankee soldier.
No. 152 also consigns F. Keller to Ship Island, at hard labor for two years, for exhibiting a skeleton in his window labelled ‘"Chickahominy,"’ intending it to represent a Yankee soldier slain in that battle.
No. 150 confines Mrs. Phillips, wife of Philip Phillips, at Ship Island, within proper limits there, till further orders, for laughing on her balcony while a Yankee funeral was passing.
The Mobile Tribune says the following is reliable:
On the 4th of July, at New Orleans, a boat load of British tars, from the British man-of-war Rinaido, while approaching the levee, commenced singing some of our patriotic war songs, among them ‘"The Bonnie Blue Flag."’ Butler sent word to the Captain of the vessel that he did not permit such demonstrations.
The Captain replied that he did, and he was responsible.
The same night a ball was given on board the vessel.
Among the decorations were Confederate flags.
