The dog days

are upon us, and the days of many dogs now roaming the streets at large are numbered and very few. The Mayor has at length succeeded in getting all the articles necessary for his nets, and in the course of a few days his police will be on the dog hunt, destroying every vile our that chance may throw into their nets. If the citizens would give a helping hand in this work of extermination, every man rid his premises of the worthless dogs upon it, a vast amount of provisions — enough to fatten a dozen droves of hogs — might be saved, and the community at large would be relieved of the greatest past, in the brute kind, with which the town is cursed.
