Dispensation from fasting.

--The Rt. Rev. Bishop Quinland, of Mobile, has proclaimed a dispensation from fasting upon Fridays. This, it was announced, was in consequence of the high price of provisions and the difficulty with which many articles of diet were to be obtained. It will, therefore, by virtue of the Bishop's dispensation, be considered no sin for members of the Catholic Church to eat meat on Friday; yet it is recommended that those who are fortunately able to keep up with the custom and the faith should do so.
