Official report of the cavalry fight in Mississippi.

--The following is Gen. Stephen D. Lee's official report of the recent cavalry fight in Mississippi:


Holley Springs, December 5, 1863.

Via Abbeville, Dec. 6.

To Gen. J. E. Johnston:
Chased enemy's cavalry (eight hundred strong) from Ripley into Pocahontas on the 1st Enemy concentrated at Pocahontas, and evacuated Saulsbury on the 2d. Two miles of railroad destroyed at Saulsbury, and Forrest passed safely over.--Routed and drove across into Wolf river, at Moscow, two regiments of the enemy's cavalry, killing, wounding, and drowning about one hundred and seventy-five, capturing forty prisoners and forty horses, and killing about one hundred horses.

The treating between Lafayette and Moscow (about one hundred yards) destroyed. Lafayette was evacuated and depot burned.

My loss was fifteen killed and forty wounded.
