Government shoes.

--Thomas Townsend, charged with stealing eleven pairs of shoes from the Government, and Wm. Shannahan with receiving them, knowing them to have been stolen, were before the Mayor yesterday. Shannahan had made no concealment of the shoes, but readily gave them up when called upon. He was therefore discharged. Townsend, being a soldier, was turned over to the military authorities for court martial.
