--Yesterday afternoon the snow began to fail with every prospect of covering the to the of several inches.

Impressing Negroes has been resorted to by Government agents, because of the exorbitant hires demanded for them. Three hundred dollars per year and board and clothes ought to satisfy any slaveholder at this particular time for the service of his slave. If the contracts now entered into were merely for a day or a month, there might then be some reason for the Increase of hire; but when we all know that a radical change is to be made in the currency as speedily as Congress can do it, and that $300 twelve months hence may be worth more than $1500 now, those who have to hire out negroes ought to be less excessive in their demands. The Government must have labor, and its agents are right in securing it at once.
