Convict captured.

--John P. Gunnels, the convict who succeeded in making his escape from the penitentiary on Wednesday morning, at the time an assault was made upon the guard by James Conway, a fellow convict, who was then shot and mortally wounded, was captured by Capt. J. B. Pleasants and watchman Drake, on Wednesday evening and returned to the custody of the Superintendent of the penitentiary. Gunnels had secreted himself in an old stable on the line of the canal about two miles from this city, where he was found by the vigilance of the officers who were in search of him. These officers, we presume, will receive the reward of one hundred and fifty dollars offered by the Governor, though the capture was made before the appearance of the notice from the Secretary of the Commonwealth in the papers offering such reward.
