Drake, Samuel Adams, 1833-

Historian; born in Boston, Mass., Dec. 20, 1833; adopted journalism as a profession, but at the beginning of the Civil War entered the National service and rose to the rank of colonel of United States volunteers in 1863. He is the author of Nooks and Corners of the New England coast; The making of New England; Old landmarks of Boston; History of Middlesex county, etc.
