Sears, Robert 1810-1892

Publisher; born in St. John, New Brunswick, June 28, 1810; settled in New York City in 1832; began [104] the publication of illustrated works in 1839; and did much to develop the art of wood engraving in the United States.. Among his publications the most important is the Pictorial history of the United States. He died in Toronto, Canada, Feb. 17, 1892.
