Railroad Accident.

--We learn from the Petersburg Intelligencer that as the South-Side train, Monday, was backing up from the island, from some unknown cause the express and mail car was thrown from the track, and breaking the coupling, rolled down the embankment near the bridge, turning a complete somersault in its course, and landing on the wall below upside down. Several persons were in the car when it was thrown off the track, but all of them immediately jumped out of the windows, with the exception of Mr. J. B. Blanks, the mail agent, who went down with the mass, and when found was nearly covered up with trunks and express matter. Mr. B., however, escaped unhurt, while some of the others sustained but slight bruises. His escape from death was truly miraculous.
