The following is from the Tobacco Circular of M. H, Clarke, tobacco broker, Clarksville, Tenn. ‘ The Western crop of Tobacco of 1860 is variously estimated at from 50,000 hhds. to 60,000 hhds., which, with the stock of and Stripe held over- about 10,000 hhds.--will make the receipts at New Orleans to Sept. 1st 1860 from 60,000 hhds. to 70,000 hhds.; perhaps the latter figures will be found nearer correct. The pecuniary pressure in the interior, and the inferior character of the crop, will probably have the effect to urge forward the whole stock by midsummer, before navigation ceases in the island streams. The Tobacco crop in the Clarksville district is generally of inferior quality, mostly short leaf of fair body and substance, with an unusual small proportion of long, heavy, and large leafy qualities. The make of Strips for 1861, from the character of the crop, (which ill fits it for stemming.) and present ruling prices and heavy stocks in the English markets, will be very small, probably not exceeding 5,000 hhds. to 6,00 hhds in the entire West, including Missouri. The frosts of the 12th and 13th of October did no damage in this section, the entire crop having been cut and housed before that date, with the exception of a few scattering plants.--The receipts of Tobacco at Clarksville for the commercial year ending August 31st, were 12,423 hhds., exclusive of the receipts and shipments from our eleven stemmeries, about 4,000 hhds. more. New York. Dec. 8.--Flour heavy; sales this morning of 4,000 barrels at $4.50@4.90 for Southern. Wheat dull and nominal; no sales. Corn heavy; sales of 15,000 bushels at 58 cts. for mixed. Lard dull at 10@10 ¾ cents. Whiskey dull and nominal at 17@17 ½ cents. Receipts of flour 10,684 hhls.; wheat 50,500 bushels; corn 37,282 bush — Stocks opened better; but the market closed with less firmness. Baltimore, Dec. 8.--Flour dull and heavy; Howard street and Ohio are held at $5; City held at $4.75; no buyers. Wheat very dull and nominal. Corn steady; new 50@58 cts. Provisions dull and heavy; new mess Pork $17. Lard 10 ¼ cents. Coffee dull at 13@14 cents. Whiskey flat at 18 cts. ’
