Valuable Relic.

--The Louisville Journal says:--‘"We were shown yesterday a gold watch of the olden time, which is of great value as a memento of an important event in American history. The watch was a present from Gen., Washington to Gen. Lafayette, and bears the following inscription on the back of the inner case: 'G. Washington to Gilbert Mattiers de Lafayette. Lord Cornwallis' Capitulation, Yorktown, December 17, 1781.'--The watch is of London manufacture, and was made in 1769. It is said that the watch was taken to San Francisco from Paris by a Frenchman, who became embarrassed there, and sold it to the present owner for the sum of fifty dollars."’
