Resignation.

--The North Carolina papers publish a letter to Governor Vance from Col. D. K. McRae, of the 5th North Carolina regiment, announcing his resignation, because Col. Alfred Iverson, of Georgia, a junior officer, has been appointed over him and made General of his brigade. Lieut- Gen. D. H. Hill endorsed the resignation: ‘"I have three times recommended Col. McRae for promotion. North Carolina has furnished more troops and has fewer general officers than any other State. I approve Col. McRae's resignation, believing that his self respect requires it. "’
