tenant-Colonel Strange was elected colonel. (He was killed at Boonsboro, South Maryland, September 14th, 1862). Mayor Gantt was elected lieutenant-colonel, and after Strange's death was promoted coloadly wounded July 3d, 1863, at Gettysburg. Captain Charles S. Peyton was promoted major, September 14th, 1862. (He lost his left arm August 30th, 1862, at 2d Manassas).
