Knights of Pythias. Eben W. Pike. St. Omer Lodge, No. 9, Knights of Pythias, received its charter April 11, 1884, and with a list of nearly 100 names entered upon the work of the order. For twelve years it has done a large amount of charitable work in this city, and to-day, with a membership of over 200, ranks among the first in the grand domain of Massachusetts. Recognizing as it does the universality of human brotherhood, and embracing the world within its jurisdiction, its fundamePythias, received its charter April 11, 1884, and with a list of nearly 100 names entered upon the work of the order. For twelve years it has done a large amount of charitable work in this city, and to-day, with a membership of over 200, ranks among the first in the grand domain of Massachusetts. Recognizing as it does the universality of human brotherhood, and embracing the world within its jurisdiction, its fundamental principles are solely for the cultivation of friendship, charity, and benevolence. Nothing of a sectarian or political character has ever been permitted within its portals, and obedience to law and loyalty to government are its cardinal principles; with these in view, and with justice to all, no doubt can exist as to its true and good intentions.
