Presentation of a service of silver to Collector Whitney, of Boston, &c. Boston,March 30. --Collector Whitney, who retires on Monday, was to-day presented with a service of silver plate, costing six hundred dollars, by the employees of the Custom-House. Mr. Goodrich, who assumes office on Monday, has appointed E. W. B. Canning, of Stockbridge, Deputy Collector. The United States District Court, Judge Clifford presiding, adjourned this forenoon on the announcement of the death of n of a service of silver to Collector Whitney, of Boston, &c.
