Exciting reports from the Potomac line. It was believed, from information received at the War Department last evening, that the Federal army had commenced an advance upon our lines in the direction of Fairfax or Leesburg. Intelligence was brought by passengers yesterday that trains were running between Fairfax and Manassas during the whole of Tuesday night, and that there was evidently some important movement going on. This is the substance of the news thus far received, and we forbear to mention any exaggerated rumors that we have heard. It is the opinion of well-informed men that exciting events are at hand, and our leaders seem to be well aware of the designs of the enemy.
