From Corinth — Desperate fighting reported. Mobile, Sept. 7. --A special dispatch to the Advertiser and Register, dated Tupelo, 6th, P. M., says: Nothing reliable from Corinth since VanDorn's dispatch. A courier, arrived to day, says that on the 4th our troops drove the enemy from and occupied their entrenchments, but were afterwards forced in full back from them. Hence cannonading was heard yesterday from points above here. The fight must have been most desperate. A courier is hourly expected from the scene of conflict. Gen. Ed. Price, son of Sterling Price, an exchanged prisoner, arrived here to-day from Memphis, which place he left on the 1st. He represents the enemy there at 40,000, with 70 pieces of artillery. The enemy are fully posted as to our movements, and anticipate an attack from Van- Dorn and Price. Sherman, who was at Memphis, know their exact whereabouts.
