--There were eighty-two vessels lost during the month of January.
This number includes two steamers, ten ships, fifteen barks, eighteen brigs, and thirty-seven schooners.
Of this number thirty were abandoned at sea, eighteen of those abandoned being grain-laden, having cleared with some four hundred and twenty thousand bushels of wheat and corn.
