ὑπόσχεο καὶ κατάνευσον: set expression, only at the end of the verse, cf. “Β 112, ὑπέστην καὶ κατένευσα Δ 267, ὑπέσχετο καὶ κατένευσεν ω 335. κατανεύω” is the contrary of “ἀνανεύω” nod up (6.311). Thus even now in Greece, negation is indicated by an upward motion of the head, and affirmation by a downward nod (with an inclination toward the left).This text is part of:
