*Ai)neia/des), a patronymic from Aeneas, and applied as a surname to those who were believed to be descended from him, such as Ascanius, Augustus, and the Romans in general. (Verg. A. 9.653; Ov. Pont. 1.35 ; Met. 15.682, 695.)
