the name prefixed to a poem, first published by Burmann, extending to 182 hexameter lines, and entitled,
Concubitus Martis et Veneris. With regard to the author nothing is known. Unless we attribute some inaccuracies in metre and some peculiarities in phraseology to a corrupt text, we must conclude that he belongs to a late epoch, but the piece is throughout replete with grace and spirit, and presents a series of brilliant pictures. Wernsdorf imagines, that for
Reposianus we ought to read
Nepotianus, merely because the former designation does not elsewhere occur; but this conjecture being altogether unsupported by evidence, will be received with favour by but few.
