παρείκοι, impers., here=“σχολὴ εἴη”: Thuc. 3. 1προσβολαὶ...ἐγίγνοντο... ὅπῃ παρείκοι.

ἑνὸς κρατῶ λόγου, ‘I have the power (i.e., leisure) to say only one thing.’ Cp. O. T. 409ἴσ᾽ ἀντιλέξαι: τοῦδε γὰρ κἀγὼ κρατῶ”.—Not, ‘lay hold upon’ one saying, i.e., ‘take my stand upon’ it.
