Congressional Summary.
In the
Senate Friday the bill to authorize the issue of 8 per cent, bonds or certificates of stock, in certain cases, was passed.
Also, a bill for the relief of certain officers and soldiers from the
State of Missouri.
The bill to repeal the laws of naturalization was ordered to be printed.
The bill amending the act securing
copyrights to authors and composers, was passed with an amendment.
The bill abolishing all ports of delivery in the
Confederate States, was passed with sundry amendments.
The Senate refused to adjourn over until Monday.
In the
House, Thursday night, the bills providing for a Supreme Court and Court of Claims were postponed until next session.
Yesterday morning a motion to reconsider the vote postponing the latter bill was negatived.
A bill was passed organizing the medical branch of the military service.
The bill gives the rank and pay of
Brigadier-General to the
Surgeon-General, and allows him two
Assistant Surgeon- Generals, with the rank of
Colonel of cavalry.
