The Libby prison.

--This institution was favored yesterday with a visit from General Singleton, of Illinois, who came to the city some days since ostensibly upon a mission of peace. He expressed himself very well satisfied with the conduct of affairs thereat, and, to use his own language said that, "more lies had been told about the place than the North could ever atone for. It is the best conducted prison in the world." General Singleton will be sent North by flag of truce this morning.

Yesterday, a large lot of blankets, boxes, etc., were delivered to the Federal prisoners confined in the city. Brigadier-General Hayes, who reached here on Thursday, superintended the delivery of the articles, and will remain here till the distribution is completed, when he will probably proceed to other parts of the Confederacy, where Yankee prisoners are confined, in order to superintend further distributions.

Owing to the inability of Captain Hatch to communicate with the Federal flag-of-truce boat on yesterday, no prisoners for exchange were taken down the river. They will certainly be taken down this morning.
