Comitium

The name of a small space in Rome, bounded on the north by the Senate House (see Curia), and on the south by the Rostra (q.v.). Down to the second century B.C. it was used for the meetings of the assemblies and of the courts of law. After the removal of the rostra it became part of the Forum. See Forum.
