Commagēné

Κομμαγηνή). The northeasternmost district of Syria, lying between the Taurus and the Euphrates. It formed a part of the kingdom of Syria, after the fall of which it maintained its independence under a race of kings, the family of the Seleucidae, and was not united to the Roman Empire until the reign of Vespasian.
