Theodŏta

Θεοδότη). An Athenian courtesan, and one of the most celebrated persons of that class in Greece. She is introduced as a speaker in Xenophon's Memorabilia (iii. 11). She at last attached herself to Alcibiades, and, after his murder, she performed his funeral rites (Athen. pp. 220, 574). See Alcibiades.
