Sandalium
(σανδάλιον and σάνδαλιν). A Greek covering for the foot, worn principally by women, consisting of a thick sole of wood, cork, or leather, with a strap carried over the foot in front of the socket of the great toe, passed between this and the second toe, and tied to the other bands fastened to the edge of the sole before and behind.
