SO´NTIA

SO´NTIA (Eth. Sontinus: Sanza), a town of Lucania, known only from Pliny. who enumerates the Sontini among the municipal towns of that province (Plin. Nat. 3.11. s. 15). It is probable that it is the same place now called Sanza, situated in the mountains about 12 miles N. of the Gulf of Policastro. [E.H.B] [p. 2.1022]
