National Defence Association.

The ladies composing the National Defence Association are energetically and with patriotic ardor prosecuting their labors. They have, we are informed, engaged commodious rooms on the corner of Broad and Ninth streets, for the establishment of a ‘"Briar,"’ and where they will be fully prepared to receive all donations after Monday next. All communications touching the business of the association should be addressed to Mrs. V. R. W. Vernon, manager of the Bazaar and Corresponding Secretary of the National Defence Association. The hearty manner in which the ladies have engaged in this matter is an earnest assurance of its success.

We understand, further, that Mrs. Vernon, the talented authoress, at the solicitation of many friends, has consented to give a series of readings, to be interspersed with music, &c., for the benefit of the association.
