Cunning thieves.

--On Sunday afternoon last Bill Jones and George H. Willie, two notorious free negroes, met a slave named Matthew on the basin, and finding that he had a neat watch, set to work to possess themselves of it. George took the watch to examine it, and afterwards handed it to Bill, who made off. The case was reported to Captain Pleasants, of the night police, who captured the thieves and recovered the watch. The Mayor will give the parties a hearing on Friday next.
