The Yankee Navy following the land Commander's Example.
--The Yankee navy is vising with the land forces in violating the laws of war. The following is a copy of a notice posted up near Hertford, North Carolina:"United States steamer Wyalusing,
"Off Hertford, North Carolina,
"January 6th, 1865.
"To the Inhabitants of the Town of Hertford and vicinity:
"Should any hostile acts be performed in the Perquimans river, or the sound near its mouth, by which any United States Government vessel or property is injured or destroyed, or anything done by which the free navigation of the river is disturbed, the citizens and property holders will be held accountable to the value of the property thus destroyed or injured.
"The above notification is by order of Commander W. H. Malcomb, commanding United States naval forces, District of Sounds of North Carolina. "To the Inhabitants of the Town of Hertford and vicinity:

"Lieutenant-Commander."
